What You Missed: Talking Motherhood, Maternal Wellness: The Art of Self Care

You asked. We delivered.  Following our successful first #TalkingMotherhood Event in May, we hosted another intimate gathering in New York City late September with beautiful, hardworking, inspirational women and moms to share stories about maternal wellness and self-care.  The event was the second in Mitera's event series called the 'Talking Motherhood', focused on redefining motherhood for the modern mother.  Four highly-regarded wellness experts who are moms themselves shared their own experiences and tips under the topic Maternal Wellness: Art of Self-Care.  The panelists included nationally recognized experts ALISA VITTI, Integrative Nutritionist, Hormone Expert, and Author, ASHLY YASHCHIN, Founder of Barley + Oats, KRISTIN MCGEE, Celebrity Yoga + Pilates Instructor and REBECCA SINN, Entertainment & Special Projects Director at SELF Magazine.  Yoko, Mitera's founder opened the night's discussion by sharing her experience working in the field of maternal and child health in the developing world and how she feels incredibly fortunate and at the same time responsible to live her own life to the fullest while uplifting others along the way.  Throughout the evening, the panelists were generous in sharing honest and often hilarious anecdotal stories from their own lives and wellness tips and philosophy with the audience.  Many from the audience also shared their own struggles and inspirational stories about wellness and the importance of self-care with others.  The mood of the event was incredibly supportive, empowering and inspirational where people shed tears, shared laughter and hugs and gained new friends.
